What Do People Regret The Most Before They Die?

03rd July 2017

Bronnie Ware, an Australian nurse who spent several years working in palliative care caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives, recorded their dying words and compiled them in her book called "The Top Five Regrets of the Dying."

The book points to five regrets that surfaced again and again when she asked dying patients if they would have done anything differently in their lives.

The top regret expressed by most of the patients was "I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me."

Most people had not honored even half of their dreams. If we look back over the last five or ten years of our life, many of us are already experiencing the same regret.

The sad thing is that most of us are not doing anything to change that situation. Think of five, ten or twenty years from now……will you still be regretting the things you have not done or will you take that leap of faith? Are you stuck in your comfort zone?

The second most common regret was "I wish I hadn't worked so hard."

Are you making time for the people and things that you love?

The third and forth regrets most commonly shared were "I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings." and "I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends."

People often find it challenging to communicate with others and may end up suppressing their feelings in order to avoid hurting others.

Time management also plays a vital role here. Scarcity of time is the main reason that people break friendships. Wouldn't it be great if you had plenty of time to do what you love?

And the fifth regret was "I wish that I had let myself be happier."

It is often only at the end of this lifetime that many people realize that happiness is a choice. Yes, your happiness is there ready and waiting for you. You need to choose it. You need to welcome it… and you need to be ready to accept it.
It's your life... and it's your choice.

Are you ready to take that important step now to avoid regretting what you didn’t do in your life?

Over the last 40 years, NLP has provided tools and techniques to unleash potential and allow people to take that leap of faith and move out of their comfort zone…. To live a full life! No regrets!
